1. Introduction of "MISS"
Desicription:
We call our project by the name "MISS" (Mobile-based Information Sharing System). The project MISS is aimed to develop a powerful information sharing system for mobile users, by which mobile user can easily publish messages, photoes, videos on internet. All the data will be processed and saved in the cloud computing center, which provides user convenient and flexible ways to publish whatever he want to share on blog site, SNS site, youtube and so on. To do the data communication between mobile phones and cloud computing center, we use the widely-existing and stable email system to do this job in a secure and flexible way.
2. Background
- Current Terminals : Personal computer, Palm Computer, Mobile phones
- The way we share information on Internet
(The situation of Japan, up to 2009/04/01)
- PC: Easy to share info on intenet, but not portable.
- Mobile: Portable, but weak in computaional ability --> very limited functions on mobiles.
- Smartphone (E-Mobile, iPhone, Blackberry): powerful and portable; expensive and not popular (Share: 17% in North America, 2% Japan, 2007); multi-device or multi-OS oriented software is needed.
- The security problems: No effective solution for Denial of Service(Dos) Attack
3. Proposal of "MISS"
Combination of mobile email system and cloud-computing server
- Advantages of the cloud-computing:
- Intensive and powerful computing at server;
- People consume resources as a service with low cost.
- Characteristic of mobile e-mail:
- Be able to avoid Dos attack;
- Embeded in all most every kinds of mobiles;
- Long history and easy to use for users;
- Stable and secure data transfer.
4. Advantages of "MISS"
For users
- Uniquitous :
- Everywhere, since mobile system coveres wide range;
- Anytime, since mobile is at hand all time.
- Flexible publishing method
- powered by cloud-computing sever and rich plugins expected.
- Secure and stable
- well tested mobile function.
For system developer
- Low cost and easy to set up
- At the beging, we can use the cloud-computing service of Google, Yahoo, Amazon and so on. Once it is necessary, we can build our own server.
- Easy to develop
- Our model takes out the work of data collecting and publishing to be an indepedent one. No need to worry about complicated user interface for website publishing.
5. Developing of "MISS"
- First stage: To set up rule for E-mail content and determine the database structure for later data saving. and develop the basic mail-extracting system on the cloud computing center.
- Second stage: To developthe plugins for various sites.
- Third stage: Testing and system fixing on feedback.
6. Application of "MISS"
As it is not easy for China users to access abroad site and publish posts, the MISS system has been used in De-Sci Park to
make blog writers publishing posts by simply sending out emails.
